The North Florida Residential Green Building Committee (RGBC) is an inclusive effort of the US Green Building Council LEED for Homes (LEEDH), Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC), and the National Association of Home Builders Green Guidelines (NAHB) to educate and change the residential building industry and public about the benefits of third party certified green homes so that the most sustainable homes possible are being built in Northeast Florida. This sustainability is based on the minimal amount of embodied energy required to build and operate a home. The RGBC’s mission is to be a proactive leader and guide the local industry to meet our vision. To meet this goal, the RGBC will focus on providing the local community the tools it needs to build the most sustainable residences in Florida by 2015 and the most sustainable residences in the nation by 2020. It will also meet this timeline for being an industry leader in retrofitting existing homes.
