Our Panel will include-
Dan Lee, LEED AP, is Manager of Preconstruction Services at Elkins Constructors, Inc. Elkins has been involved in several LEED projects in the region. Dan is in the midst of building his own home to LEED standards and will share his experience to date with building green.
Corie Baker, AIA, LEED AP has been active in the green building community since relocating to Jacksonville from Washington, DC over three years ago, serving in the past with the USGBC North Florida Chapter on the Master Speaker Team and the Public Advocacy Committee and currently as Vice Chair of the Board. Corie is designing several green homes in Jacksonville and two are seeking LEED for Homes Platinum certification. She also became a LEED for Homes Green Rater through the Florida Solar Energy Center in 2009. In addition, Corie is involved with the Urban Land Institute, serving in the past as the Program Chair for Reality Check First Coast and currently as Chair for their Sustainability Committee. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Vermont and her Master of Architecture from the University of Maryland. She is licensed in Florida and Georgia.
Mr. Cortie is the Vice President of Real Estate and Construction of Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville, Inc. (HabiJax) since 2006. He advanced from his original position of Senior Builder (2003) to Director of Construction in 2005. A re-alignment of resources has enabled HabiJax to improve business processes, adopt a more results oriented work environment, and implement an innovative five-year strategic plan. Under the leadership of Mary Kay O’Rourke, HabiJax received the Affiliate of the Year Award for the highest home production in 2006. This affiliate continues to be the largest Habitat for Humanity affiliate in the United States. Mr. Cortie is a licensed general contractor with the state of Florida. He has experience in single-family and multi-family residential construction and was previously employed by David Weekly Homes and Pulte Home Corporation.
Mr. James R. Williams serves as CEO of Home Energy Services since its inception in April 2001. Jim has been in the Energy Services Industry since High School where he Graduated Valedictorian with a certificate in Heating and Air Conditioning. He has continued his education with classes at FSCJ and the University of North Florida. Jim worked for JEA for over 23 years. While there he helped implement a number of major projects such as: ITRON, a hand held computer system for meter reading; the Field Order System, a computer sorting and radio dispatch system for field personnel; and planned the Automated Meter Reading System. Mr. Williams is a National Class One Energy Rater, a Florida Certified Commercial & Public Building Rater, certified in air flow Test and Balance, a Florida Green Building Coalition agent, EFL Diamond Class contractor, holds a Florida Water Star inspectors certification, and has passed many other energy and water related certifications.
