The 2010 USGBC North Florida Innovation Awards

     

     

    The second annual awards event for the USGBC NF Chapter was held on May 13th at the University of North Florida Student Union. The keynote speaker was Jerry Yudelson, who spoke on “Blue is the New Green” preventing urban water crises.

     

    The aim was to highlight sustainable building achievements in North Florida. Categories and the winners included: 

    • New Construction – Commercial – City of Jacksonville’s Animal Care and Protective Services (submitted by Ebert Norman Brady Architects)
    • New Construction – Residential – Sustainable Solar Residence – The Zona Family (submitted Zona and Associates)
    • Major Renovation – Crowley Maritime Corporation (submitted by Reynolds, Smith and Hills)
    • Commercial Interiors – Crowley Maritime Corporation (submitted by Reynolds, Smith and Hills)
    • Site and Landscape Design – Sustainable Solar Residence – The Zona Family (submitted by Zona and Associates)
    • Outstanding Community Leadership – Mary Tappouni (submitted by Breaking Ground Contracting Company)
    • Outstanding Corporate Responsibility – Breaking Ground Contracting (submitted by Breaking Ground Contracting Company)

    The U.S. Green Building Council is the nation's leading coalition of corporations, builders, universities, federal and local agencies, and nonprofit organizations working together to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work.
