Chapter History
Green building advocates in North Florida began informal meetings in the spring of 2004 to discuss formation of a local Chapter of the USGBC. The head of this informal steering committee contacted the USGBC to communicate these intentions. The Interest Group Checklist was completed in May 2004 and the Organizing Group Checklist begun.
The newly formed Organizing Group held its first public meeting in August 19, 2004 that attracted over 35 participants, representing a diverse set of constituencies. The Organizing Group held monthly meetings events, continued to recruited new members, and eventually achieved Provisional Chapter Status in Aug 2006 and now has over 230 chapter members.
The North Florida Chapter has continued to grow and continually institutionalize to provide a strong sustainable educational resource tool for the North Florida Territory.
