USGBCNF Home Energy Makeover Expo to be featured at Fall Home and Patio Show

 

A Home Energy Makeover (HEM) Expo will be a special feature of the annual Fall Home and Patio Show, Sept. 29-Oct. 2 at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. The U.S. Green Building Council, North Florida Chapter (USGBCNF) and JEA will present the educational and informative Expo.

 

"Displays, workshops and experts will show how building science and technology can reduce energy consumption at home and save money as it applies to remodeling or new home construction," said Wally Conway, president of HomePro and chairman of the Residential Green Building Committee of the USGBCNF. "The Expo will feature four days of educational presentations, information, tips, workshops and outreach programs"

 

Show attendees visiting the Expo will be eligible to win a GE Hybrid Water Heater, a GE Energy Star dishwasher and other prizes when they complete the GE Expo Passport by having the passport stamped at designated booths throughout the show. Attendees can also register to win a $10,000 Home Energy Makeover at the Expo.

 

Some of the planned HEM Expo workshops, seminars and educational opportunities include Simple Ways to Live Greener, Irrigation Savings Made Easy. What are Home Performance Upgrades?, Things to Know when Replacing A Heat Pump, The Home Energy Assessment, Energy Saving Behaviors, Home Energy Efficiency Projects, Basics of Solar Window Film, Advantages and Incentives to Green Building, Green or green-washed Realtors - What's the difference? Bringing a Sustainable Community to Northeast Florida and how to use the JEA Home Energy Evaluation Kit.

 

There are industry related continuing education classes being offered through the Florida Green Building Coalition on Thursday. Discount tickets are also available through the Chapter with proceeds going to USGBCNF.
