Bio: Sarah Boren is the Executive Director of the U.S. Green Building Council North Florida Chapter, a non-profit organization committed to creating a sustainable community inspired by green building in NE FL through education and open collaborative leadership.  She served on the Board of the Chapter for several years before becoming its Executive Director.  Sarah is also the Executive Director of the Green Team Project, a program of the Tides Center and a solutions-oriented national non-profit that helps individuals and small businesses save money by becoming environmentally-friendly in their everyday practices.  She has over seventeen years of professional experience in the environmental sustainability field in the non-profit, private and government sectors including at the Smithsonian Institution in DC and green business consulting in CA and FL.  Sarah received her BA in Politics and a minor in Chinese from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1991 and a Masters of Environmental Management in Resource Economics, Policy and Business, including corporate environmental management, from Duke University in 1999.

Bio: Mark Gelfo, PE, LEED AP, CxA has a bachelor degree in Architectural Engineering for Penn State University and specializes in Green and Sustainable Building design and consulting, and has been very active in the USGBC North Florida Chapter since its inception. Mark was one of the original founding members of the North Florida Chapter, has served as Program Committee Chair, served two years as Chapter President, and currently serves as Education Committee Chair. He has given countless presentations, lectures, seminars, and study groups on LEED, Sustainable Design, and Commissioning, and has been helping hundreds of people become LEED Accredited Professionals. Mark is a Principal and Division Director for the Jacksonville office of TLC Engineering for Architecture. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and a Certified Commissioning Agent. He has worked on numerous projects that have achieved LEED certification and has dozens that are LEED Registered and pursuing certification.

Bio: Wayne Dunn, PE, has been involved with project management, systems integration, quality assurance and commissioning for over 20 years. Project experience varies from Modern Offices to Laboratories and Launch Complexes with effort focused on equipment/ system validation, improving technical performance and energy efficiency for both existing mechanical systems and new construction projects. Currently Wayne is commissioning projects for the State of Florida and Leon County as well as providing ongoing management consulting services for JEA. Wayne has been involved with USGBC North Florida Chapter since inception. In past years he has served as Program Chair. Currently he is on the Chapter Board of Directors, Local Chapter Steering Committee, North Florida Chapter Regional Representative, Regionalization Task Force, LEED for School Subcommittee, & Business of Green Conference Committee. Other society involvement includes ASHRAE, having chaired technical committees such as ASHRAE: SSPC 55 Thermal Comfort Standard & ASHRAE: GPC 20 – XML Definitions for HVAC&R. Wayne has published several papers on commissioning relating to how it improves energy performance and owner satisfaction. He is an industry speaker on energy efficiency and commissioning. In addition to being a registered professional engineer in USA and Canada Wayne holds an AEE certificate as an indoor air quality professional.  He is a member of ASHRAE, AEE, ASQ, and BCA.

Bio: Ben Moore is an Energy & Environmental Planner with Reynolds, Smith and Hills (RS&H). His experience includes energy efficiency, renewable energy, climate change and sustainability policy, program development and management for business, nonprofit and government clients. Prior to joining RS&H, Ben served as Director of the Energy and Climate Program at the Coastal Conservation League. He has served as a technical advisor to the Charleston Green Plan and the South Carolina Climate, Energy and Commerce Committee. Ben is a contributing author to the Convenient Guide to Climate Change Policy & Technology, published by the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the U.S. Green Building Council, North Florida Chapter. He holds a masters degree in Environmental Management from Duke University with a certificate in Energy and the Environment and a bachelor’s degree from Haverford College.

Bio: Ellen Leroy-Reed, LEED AP BD+C, is President of ELR Consulting Group, LLC, a knowledge collective that helps small businesses and agencies achieve success by reaching their clients more effectively, and by providing customized training programs that educate on topics affecting their business. With over 15 years of experience in business development, training, and public relations, Ms. Leroy-Reed has forged her commitment to sustainability with her business strategy. Through her work with the US Green Building Council as current President of the North Florida Chapter, she has carried the message of green building throughout the country and continues to spread the word about the importance of sustainable communities and green building. Also serving as past chair of the Public and Government Education committee, she humbly assisted (in small part) in the formation of Jacksonville’s Sustainable Building Ordinance. Her professional experience includes Project Team Administration on several LEED projects for clients ranging from small business to large businesses, schools, and non-profit organizations.   Along with her work in the green building industry, she has also volunteered with organizations such as the Navy League, the American Lung Association, Habijax, the USO, and Camden Area Players Theater Company. She is the proud parent of five children and wife to one ex-pat from the United Kingdom, is an avid reader of non-fiction, and in a repetitive exercise in futility, attempts and fails at growing vegetables in her garden each year. Her ‘frustrated author’ status was fully established during a three-year assignment as a humor columnist and she plans to someday write a book.

Bio: Hava Binkley serves as in-house counsel in the legal department and manages real estate, environmental compliance and sustainability, including property management, operations and maintenance of Winn-Dixie stores and industrial facilities and construction-related issues.   She has an extensive background in environmental issues including construction, fuel, transportation, storm water and waste management and continually works on these and other environmental compliance issues for Winn-Dixie. Hava is currently working on many sustainable programs and policies for Winn-Dixie Stores, with a strong emphasis on waste diversion and recycling.   Hava dedicates herself and her practice to eliminating negative impacts on the environment, preserving resources and educating others how to do the same.  Hava is also a LEED AP O+M having earned her accreditation in March, 2011. Hava hails from upstate New York and received her BA in Linguistics from Binghamton University.  Upon graduation, Hava moved to Florida and later attended the University of Miami School of Law where she received her Juris Doctorate.

Bio: Clanzenetta “Mickee” Brown is the owner and principal consultant for Special Project Partners; a writing, research, and project management firm she founded in 2007.  Prior to becoming a business owner, Mickee worked as a Study Director for Jacksonville Community Council Inc. (JCCI) staffing community-based, public policy studies and the subsequent citizen-run advocacy efforts on a range of topics including: affordable housing, improving race relations, public education reform; higher education as an economic catalyst; attracting and retaining local talent to promote a knowledge-based economy; and access to, protection of, and development near the St. Johns River. While working as the Community Health Manager at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital, Mickee oversaw research and business planning efforts for three community initiatives targeting those living with physical disabilities, including Brooks’ Elderly Falls Prevention Program with the United Way, the Brooks Club House Program (day treatment) for people living with traumatic brain injuries, and the Brooks Adaptive Sports Program. Mickee also spent 15 years in the banking and financial services industry working for various firms, including CitiStreet, Prudential Insurance, Salomon Brothers, and First Florida Bank. Currently, Mickee serves on the executive committee of JCCI Forward, tutors students at William Raines High School (her alma mater), and is a Keep Jacksonville Beautiful Commissioner. Mickee is also a 2009 graduate of Leadership Jacksonville. She completed a three-year term on the board of Theater Jacksonville and served as the volunteer facilitator and manager of JCCI Forward’s groundbreaking forum, Out in Jacksonville: The status and impact of our GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender) Community. Mickee has a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies and a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Management. She and her husband Lee are the proud parents of three adult children and one grandchild.

Bio:  Wally Conway, is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, retired Navy Pilot, licensed contractor, and  ASHI certified home inspector who is President of HomePro Inspections, right here in Jacksonville! Wally’s Green journey started while living until recently on a 36’ trawler. Discovering that he could shower on a gallon of water, be cooled with a breeze, and read rather than own a television made being efficient easy after moving back ashore in 2008.Credentials earned include LEED AP, LEED Green Rater, HERS rater, BPI Building Analyst and others. Wally has performed over 5,000 home and building inspections as well numerous energy audits and infrared evaluations. Bio: Rob Riva is a member of the Holland & Knight’s Real Estate, Sustainable Development, Corporate and Business Law practice groups. He currently heads the Jacksonville office's Green Building and Sustainable Development practice group, which serves to assist and advise clients in all legal facets of green building, including the development, leasing and financing of sustainable real estate projects, as well as energy performance contracting. Rob is a member of the North Florida Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council's Marketing Advertising and Communications Committee, where he is the Chapter Newsletter Team Leader.
